About 52Portraits

_DSC9193

About a little more than two years ago I left the safety of my full time job, in the midst of the biggest financial crisis since the depression with the firm purpose of becoming a full time professional photographer. The path hasn’t been easy, not that I expected it to be, but this long road led me from magazine reading, to blog reading, to books, to online workshops and those to live workshops with Jock McDonald and Joe McNally, and then I thought… I got to assist other photographers that’s when Carlos Garza allowed me to be a part of his team. And in between all of this effort enlightenment, a shine from heaven gave me clarity and told myself: Daniel, you spent more time reading about photographs than taking them, seems very simple but sometimes when you are in a quest you not only forget about the goal you even farther yourself from it. After this big realization I embark myself – and my roomie Stefano- in a project called 365, one picture every day during a year time, from January the 1st to December the 31st we made and upload each a photograph to a blog (www.nojustabouthair.blogspot.com). It is very interesting what happens to you photographically during a year time, if you didn’t see it I invite you to take a look some of the pictures are amazing some of them are very bad, when that year ended I was some how grateful that it was over, but at the same time I had this emptiness by not being obliged to take a picture.

So two years after I-m back in 2013, the goal? Take a portrait every week, Why portrait? Personally I believe that is the most sublime, difficult and interesting within the photography genres, trying to catch someone’s essence on a click of a shutter is quite a task.

Let’s see how it goes, you’re invited to join me in this trip, to let your comments, critics, suggestions and petitions.

Note: This is a mexican blog, so is mainly written in spanish, I’m editing all post adding the text in english after the spanish version.
